Dr Zarah Allport's Inspiring Address at GP24

Dr. Zarah Allport, our General Practitioner at Wai Health, has recently delivered the Peter Anyon Memorial Address at GP24: The Conference for General Practice in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, hosted by The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Dr. Zarah shared her inspiring journey to becoming a GP and her vision for general practice. She highlighted:

• The importance of programmes like the Māori and Pacific Admission Scheme
• The need for more integrated and community-based care
• Encouraging GPs to advocate for their communities and challenge the systems that perpetuate current inequities

“Waipareira has been a pivotal part of my journey to becoming a GP. I’ve been able to share how we do things differently than traditional GP models with our whānau first approach and I am always proud to share on our future for general practise.”
